An embarrassing Week 15 loss exposes Ryan Poles as the Chicago Bears' general manager

The Chicago Bears' first and only Monday Night Football game against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 15 reminded them of how far they are from the top of their division. It's another loss that suggests the Bears need to make a change with Ryan Poles.

Let's start with his decision to name Thomas Brown an interim head coach instead of keeping him as the offensive coordinator upstairs. An offense where Caleb Williams was throwing the ball with confidence and explosive gains under Brown calling plays reverted back to the one Waldron was calling not too long ago.

Brown also committed his own coaching malpractice when he faced 4th-and-1 twice in the first half. He ran the ball up the middle with D'Andre Swift both times and was stopped. This was not exactly a smart decision from a man whose head coaching audition has become a total bust now.

Rookie Kiran Amegadjie, a third-round pick from Yale, had to start at left tackle in place of Braxton Jones who missed the game with a concussion.

It wasn't a great night for Ryan Poles.

Amegadjie gave up a strip sack to edge rusher Jonathan Greenard, killing a promising drive from the Bears' offense. From there, his night got even worse as he committed four more penalties and was constantly overmatched.

It was understandable they wanted to evaluate him now that they were eliminated from the playoffs. However, his struggles were an indictment of Poles and chosing to take a project offensive lineman in the third round.

Poles' record is now 14-34, which is two more losses than the since-fired Matt Eberflus. The reality is the Bears are very irrelevant in the current NFL landscape. No one cares about the Bears. And with each embarrassing loss, his tenure with the Bears needs to come to an end soon.
