The Chicago Bears played a struggling Cleveland Browns team on Sunday, and they did what they were supposed to do: beat them 31-3.
While it was an excellent game for Chicago overall, the Bears still struggled with the impossible task of stopping Myles Garrett. The star defender had four tackles, one for a loss, and 1.5 sacks, moving him to within 1.5 sacks of breaking the single-season sack record.
After the game, Bears quarterback Caleb Williams and Garrett shared a cool moment on the field, where the quarterback approached the defender and said, “You knew I couldn’t let you get it on me, man.” Garrett joked back that he just needed one more. Williams then asked the star defender for his Jersey, which Garrett agreed to, and they both shared their respect for each other.
It was a great moment between an established star and an emerging star, and a moment that has Bears fans fantasizing about the two being teammates.

Bears fans are trying to manifest an offseason trade for Myles Garrett
Every team in the NFL would love to trade for Myles Garrett, as he’s arguably the best player in the entire league. Chicago, which actually needs a long-term, elite edge defender, has a general manager, Ryan Poles, who would push to make a move like acquiring Garrett. Unfortunately for Bears fans who got excited after seeing this clip, a trade for the likely Defensive Player of the Year probably isn’t going to happen this offseason.
Garrett expressed his frustration with perennially struggling in Cleveland last offseason when he demanded a trade. The Browns simply refused to move him, instead giving him a four-year extension worth $160 million to make his suffering worth it. Garrett signed the extension, is on pace to shatter the sack record, and will likely be in Cleveland for many more years.

The Browns have made it clear that moving him isn’t even an option, so unless the Bears can put together a package that Cleveland can’t refuse, Chicago will have to give up on this dream. While Garrett may not be on the table for Chicago, there will be other edge defenders who could be available this offseason. The good news, though, is that the Bears are already one of the league's best teams and are just getting started.
