Analyst doesn't want Bears' Caleb Williams to change one part of his game

Keep doing what works best.

Chicago Bears quarterback coach J.T. Barrett has everyone talking about his most recent comments to reporters regarding his young star, Caleb Williams.

While speaking to the media last week, Barrett said that he wants Williams to do less and not make as many of the crazy Superman plays he did. FOX analyst Danny Parkins had a different opinion on that, as he wants Williams to continue to have that mentality as part of his game.

“I want him to still be a big game hunter. I still want him to go for the throat," Parkins said on First Things First. "I don’t have any doubt that he can do this, that he can hit the layups.”

Should Caleb Williams slow down and do less with the football?

The concern with Williams trying to play hero ball all the time is what happened in the playoffs, as he could end up turning the ball over more often. After throwing just seven interceptions in 17 regular season games, Williams was picked off five times in two playoff contests.

Williams should understand that he doesn't need to do everything himself, especially with the kind of offense the Bears have. They have a top five rushing attack with D'Andre Swift and Kyle Monangai, as well as young pass catchers like Colston Loveland, Rome Odunze, and Luther Burden, who can help him out.

More importantly, though, Williams has an offensive line to protect him. A lot of last year was about breaking bad habits he created in 2024 because he was running for his life with how bad that line was. He was sacked an NFL-high 68 times in 2024, but that number was reduced to 24 last year, so he should sit in the pocket and relax more often than he did.

It's understandable that Williams doesn't need to try to do as much as he did in 2025, but Bears fans don't want him to lose that edge as well. Those insane throws he made last year were a big reason the team made the playoffs.
