The Chicago Bears have to be feeling pretty positive about the team's 5-2 start to the season, as they have seen Caleb Williams start to put it all together when he has been healthy and survived a stretch in which he was out of commission. However, the 2027 NFL Draft still looms large, as this team has some clear and obvious holes that need addressing.
The Bears are a defensive line away from emerging as one of the favorites to come out of the NFC, and the secondary has been a major disappointment. Dennis Allen has this unit punching above their weight class, but he may run out of steam soon. This draft could help give him a much higher talent base he can work with.
If the Bears identify the right players from a draft class that has been getting immense amounts of hype, they could instantly get this front seven pointed in the right direction and take some of the responsibility off Williams' plate.
Chicago Bears 3-round 2027 NFL Mock Draft ahead of Week 8
Round 1, Pick 28: David Stone, DT, Oklahoma
The Bears have been very up-and-down when it comes to stopping the run, and it would be a travesty if they didn't address their defensive tackle room after a puzzling decision to lean primarily on their offense in the 2026 NFL Draft. Stone lacks pass-rush upside, but he is a block of granite on the interior that teams struggle to gain ground against.
Stone has a quick first step, plenty of power for a 6-2, 310-pounder on the interior, and great tackling in the open field. Taking a run-stuffing defensive tackle isn't the sexiest move in the world, but it might be just what the doctor ordered for this Bears defense.
Round 2, Pick 59: John Henry Daley, EDGE, Michigan
The Bears may need to double dip on the defensive line. Montez Sweat has taken a step back from where he was in the past, and Austin Booker's encouraging breakout shouldn't discourage Ryan Poles from continuing to add to this unit. Daley, who tallied 11.5 sacks at Utah in 2025, followed Kyle Whittingham to Michigan and has continued to cause havoc on the outside.
Daley isn't going to scream off the edge with tons of speed, but he is already showing a fairly advanced pass-rush plan of attack and more than enough physical power to set the edge. Even with his gaudy production, he could stand to convert more of his pressures into sacks. Dennis Allen could help him out there.
Round 3, Pick 90: Jamari Sharpe, CB, Indiana
Between Tyrique Stevenson putting together some noxious performances, Jaylon Johnson appearing to be a shell of the former elite lockdown corner he was, and Kyler Gordon seemingly more at home as a blitzer than in coverage, the secondary has been a major disappointment for Chicago. Even in a thin cornerback class, Day 2 has gems like Sharpe waiting to be unearthed.

With a 6-1 frame and 4.38 speed, Sharpe is a premium athlete who may be one of the two or three best-tackling corners in this entire class. Allen may need to work with him on his ball skills, as the 23-year-old has just three interceptions in four seasons with the Hoosiers.
