Is it enough to help?

The Chicago Bears fan base can finally rejoice as a defensive lineman has finally been selected.

With the 213th overall pick in the sixth round of the 2026 NFL Draft, the Bears selected Georgia Tech defensive tackle Jordan van den Berg. Chicago selects their first defensive tackle or edge rusher in the draft after almost three days taken up.

Berg was second in the nation last year in tackles for loss with 11. He was a two-time All-ACC selection at Georgia Tech.

Oddly enough, the defensive line has been Bears fans' biggest concern going into the draft, and Chicago has not done much with it. Bears general manager Ryan Poles seems confident the unit will play well.

The Bears already did work at tackle this offseason on defense as they signed James Lynch, Neville Gallimore, and Kentavius Street. While all three are solid NFL veterans, they are not the starting caliber players the Bears fan base was hoping they would get.

Gervon Dexter and Grady Jarrett will be the starters, which isn't a bad thing, but the unit struggled in 2025. Dexter is a good talent, but Jarrett has disappointed after being signed to a three-year contract last offseason.

Berg is not the solution they are looking for, either; he is a great run stopper, but the Bears need help with a stronger pass rush. Chicago had 35 sacks in 17 regular-season games last year, and Berg is not one who can consistently get pressure on the quarterback.

Will the Bears have what they need before the 2026 season to address their pass-rush problems? That's still a problem and appears to be before training camp as well.
