Arguably, the biggest move made by the Chicago Bears over the offseason was trading one of their top offensive weapons in wide receiver DJ Moore.

In an effort to save about $16.5 million against the cap, the Bears traded Moore and the 165th overall pick to the Buffalo Bills in exchange for the 60th overall pick. Bears fans now know how those picks turned out for both sides.

Chicago actually used that 60th overall pick to trade it away to the Tennessee Titans to acquire the 69th and 144th overall as the Bears took Stanford tight end Sam Roush at 69, and the 144th overall pick was traded to the Carolina Panthers and turned into the 166th overall pick. That selection was used to select Arizona State linebacker Keyshaun Elliott.

Buffalo obviously got Moore out of the deal, but the Bills ended up trading away the 165th overall pick to the Titans.

Bears fans should still feel good about the DJ Moore trade

There was a lot of movement with the draft picks, but the Bears should still feel good about the deal. Moore was too expensive and had regressed in his performance over the last two years after going for over 1,300 yards in his first season with Chicago in 2023.

The Bears were able to use their picks to build for the future with Roush and Elliott. Chicago got a great blocking tight end in Roush, who can also catch the football, and Elliott can instantly help their special teams and eventually be included in the rotation on defense in a year or two.

Buffalo had to take one Moore's contract as they restructured it, but still paying a lot of money for a player who did not get over 700 yards last season. The Bills lost out on picks that the Bears used in trades.

While it remains to be seen what happens on the field, the Bears definitely used their picks in the draft the right way through selections and trades.
