Bears activate key reserve player from IR for Week 7 (but not Austin Booker)

Too bad he's not back.

The final roster moves are being made before the Chicago Bears face off against the New Orleans Saints for Week 7.

Unfortunately for Bears fans, defensive end Austin Booker will not be activated from IR and remains there, ruling him out for the game. Linebacker Amen Ogbongbemiga is in the same boat, as he will be out for the Saints' match.

The good news is that running back Travis Homer will be activated from the IR and is expected to play for the first time this season. Homer has missed all season so far with a calf injury.

Other moves by the team include defensive tackle Jonathan Ford and kicker Jake Moody, who were elevated to the active roster for the second straight game. Ford played a reserve role on the defensive line in the win over the Washington Commanders, and Moody was the hero with a last-second field goal as time expired.

Just one day after releasing defensive end Tanoh Kpassagnon, the Bears have re-signed him, but he will be on the practice squad. Kpassagnon has recorded a sack this season for Chicago.

What kind of impact can Homer, Ford, and Moody have on the Bears-Saints game?

Homer might not get a lot of reps on offense, as he will be more used on special teams. Watch for him to be one of the returners on the team, among other roles.

Ford will once again play the role of replacement for Grady Jarrett, who is looking like he will miss another game. While Ford will get some snaps, he's more of a backup on the team.

Moody converted four of his five field goals in the Commanders' game, but the hope is that the weather will be a little better than kicking in the rain for the Washington matchup. He's got the trust of all his teammates and coaching staff, so that's a massive plus.

Bears fans were hoping to see Booker back out there, and this news pretty much confirms that Jarrett isn't ready to go. Chicago should still be in a prime position for a good game against the Saints.
