The Chicago Bears' offensive line is expected to be much improved next year. Seth Walder of ESPN is buying into the changes and thinks that we will see an analytical improvement. In his bold prediction for the Bears' season, Walder stated that he considers the Bears finishing in the top six in pass block win rate.
Chicago Bears expected to finish strong in Pass Block Win Rate in 2025
This would be a great outcome for the team, considering they finished 15th in this stat last season. Even some fans would be surprised to hear that they were this high, though. A lot of that comes down to Caleb Williams and the play calling, though.
The offensive line was fine, but not great. That is why the improvements are so notable. They took a fine or average unit and upgraded three positions.
The addition of Drew Dalman at center and guards Jonah Jackson and Joe Thuney should go a long way. Jackson had a down year, but is replacing a below-average player, and Thuney has been one of the best guards in the NFL over the past decade. It is easy to think this unit will be upgraded.
Walder notes that the best players on the line last season were Darnell Wright and Braxton Jones. Wright is entering his third season in the NFL and could be ready to hit his peak. He has the physical talent, starting experience, and now may be in a scheme that is better adjusted for his skill set. This could be a breakout year.
Essentially, the only thing standing in his way of being correct about this prediction is the left tackle. Braxton Jones has been underrated, and if he performs like he did during his first three seasons, the line will be just fine. The rest of the additions can handle that caliber of play.
However, Jones is coming off a fractured ankle. The team has been tracking his progress and has found mixed reviews. They wanted second-round rookie Ozzy Trapilo to win the job, but realized that was asking too much too soon. They even gave Theo Benedet a look, but they really need a big year from Jones.

If Jones performs, the prediction should come to fruition, and if Williams takes a lot of sacks, we will know who to blame. If not, the team will have to try to turn to Trapilo at some point during the season.
