Bears' confirmed interview with Mike McCarthy makes the nightmare all too real

Come on, man.

Just a few days ago, the Chicago Bears put in a request with the Dallas Cowboys to interview Mike McCarthy for their head coaching vacancy.

As we quickly found out, the Cowboys declined Chicago's request. For a moment, the fans who don't want to see McCarthy in Chicago were breathing a sigh of relief.

But then, come Monday morning, the Cowboys and McCarthy ended up going their separate ways. He would not return to coach the Cowboys and would now be free to interview for other open jobs. Yes, that means the Bears are now, once again, a possibility.

It didn't take long for Chicago to reignite their interest in McCarthy, either. Insiders confirmed the Bears' interest immediately after McCarthy was a coaching free agent, and by Monday night, we knew something that will alarm a lot of Chicago fans.

The Bears are now officially scheduled to interview McCarthy on Wednesday.

The nightmare scenario continues to grow for some Bears fans who don't want Mike McCarthy

In one of the wilder scenarios (yet still very realistic) this McCarthy firing could end up being a double whammy for Bears fans. McCarthy is not only now a legitimate candidate for the Bears' job, but what if Ben Johnson ended up in Dallas?

The window for Dallas to interview Johnson has closed, for now, but the Detroit Lions offensive coordinator could opt to wait a little bit and interview with the Cowboys and ultimately take that job.

For fans desperately wanting Johnson in Chicago, that would be twice the nightmare.

More Bears news:

Back to the idea of McCarthy in Chicago. Sure, he's had a lot of success in the NFL as a head coach. He took the Green Bay Packers to the postseason a total of nine times while winning a Super Bowl. On the surface, Bears fans would kill to have success like that.

However, many wonder if the game has now passed McCarthy by. That's one of the big worries. Another concern is the fact that McCarthy has not been able to get it done in the postseason as of late.

With the Dallas Cowboys, he was able to lead that team to four-straight seasons with a record of 12-5. Yet, he would go a combined 1-3 in the playoffs in those seasons.

McCarthy is also known to be extremely unprepared when it comes to late-game management. He's blown countless big moments, even in the playoffs recently with Dak Prescott and the Cowboys. The last thing the Bears want is another coach who can't figure out how to manage a game in crunch time.

Again, not to take anything away from McCarthy's success during his career. But, the Bears should be looking elsewhere at this stage.
