On Day 2 of NFL free agency, the Chicago Bears didn't necessary start out by blowing the doors off like they did on Day 1.

Right out of the gate, the Bears were able to land what many deemed "priority number one" in agreeing to terms with free agent center Drew Dalman.

From there, Chicago's signings only continued and have even gotten under the skin of a division rival, it appears.

But on Day 2, the Bears began a little quieter.

Ryan Poles' first move on Day 2 was to lock up another one of his own free agents who happens to be familiar with new head coach Ben Johnson.

The Bears have re-signed long snapper Scott Daly in a move that makes too much sense

Chicago agreed to bring back their long snapper from a year ago, Scott Daly, on a one-year deal.

Daly spent the first three years of his career with the Detroit Lions before joining Chicago in 2024.

While this doesn't seem all that notable on the surface, the Daly signing does continue a trend the Bears have tried to stick with over the past several days.

Chicago opted to retain one coordinator, this offseason, in Richard Hightower. The Bears' special teams coordinator is someone Johnson clearly respects, and he and general manager Ryan Poles have done quite a lot to ensure Hightower keeps some of his top guys around this offseason.

The Bears had already re-signed key special teams players like Josh Blackwell and Amen Ogbongbemiga who have been consistent contributors there for Hightower. Now, the Bears get to keep yet another significant piece in their long snapper.

Again, this might not be the sexiest or most notable move. But, it does show that the Bears want to prioritize giving Hightower back the pieces he needs the most. And, if Hightower is familiar with his long snapper, and Daly did a good job last season, it only makes sense to keep him around.
