Injuries have continued to be the story of the Chicago Bears in 2025, as they received more bad news one day before they face the Ravens in Baltimore.
The Bears announced that cornerback Kyler Gordon and left tackle Braxton Jones were placed on IR after being ruled out of the Ravens game. They also announced the signing of defensive tackle Jonathan Ford from the practice squad to the active roster.
Gordon has been dealing with a groin and calf injury all season, missing all but two games. This is the first time he has been on injured reserve this season.
Jones missed practice this week with a knee injury. He started the season as the starting left tackle before getting replaced by Theo Benedet for performance reasons.
It's more bad news for a Bears team that can't afford anymore injuries
The Bears are already out Jaylon Johnson for most of the season and Tyrique Stevenson is not playing against the Ravens with his own injury. Chicago has leaned on Nahshon Wright to step up as CB2 and has done a nice job. Nick McCloud had been the nickel corner for Gordon while he was out for the first part of the season.
Jones makes for a good depth player, but he has been the subject of trade rumors over the last week since he was replaced. This latest news might seal his fate on the team for the rest of the season.
Ford getting elevated will at least help the defensive line get some depth. They already got good news with Grady Jarrett returning from injury for the first time since leaving the Week 3 Dallas Cowboys game early.

Chicago defensive coordinator Dennis Allen will have his work cut out for him to ensure there is enough talent and depth in the secondary to get them through the tough times. Can the backup corners play well against Baltimore to give fans confidence for the rest of the year?
