It has been a very bumpy road for the Chicago Bears' secondary, which has had to survive the majority of the season without its top cornerbacks, Jaylon Johnson and Kyler Gordon. After the good news of Johnson's 21-day practice window being opened, the same is happening for Gordon.
The Bears announced that Gordon's 21-day practice window has been opened after spending the last month-plus on IR. Gordon has been dealing with a calf and groin that kept him out of the first month of the season and miss the last month with the injury.
This season, Gordon has only played in two games, racking up six tackles, one tackle for loss, one quarterback hit, and one sack. He left the New Orleans Saints game early and hasn't been on the field since.
Bears continue to get great news about the secondary
Johnson got to practice last week for one day for the first time since Week 2. That was massive news for the Bears, but the Gordon one is just as important to the team as getting another starter back on the practice field.
Chicago struggled with both guys getting hurt twice during this season as it appeared they were rushed back too soon and they ended up landing on IR. The most likely strategy for the Bears in the near future is to do the opposite with Gordon and Johnson.
Patience will be the name of the game, as the Bears could likely play out the full 21 days to ensure both players are good to go. Once they are back on the field, the Bears can't afford to lose either guy with the team now at 7-3 and in the thick of the playoff hunt.

The next month and a half are critical to the Bears, so they need to make sure Gordon and Johnson are ready to go. Until then, it's encouraging to see Gordon joining Johnson on the practice field.
