The Chicago Bears' Week 3 victory over the Dallas Cowboys was likely the most inspiring game of the Caleb Williams era.
That is easy to say when the era got off to such a slow start under Matt Eberflus, and this is now the first win with Ben Johnson and Williams together. Still, there is so much more to take away from this win than that when looking to be comforted by how Williams played.
Caleb Williams posts his cleanest game yet with the Chicago Bears
This was the first game in Williams' career where he did not take a sack. This is a massive development for Williams, who has just two games with one sack and a career-high of nine sacks on his resume.

Williams' taking sacks has been a problem that all parties can be involved in. The playcalling was forcing him to hold onto the ball too long. The playmakers were not getting open. The offensive line was giving up too much pressure, and when Williams faced pressure, he handled it worse than most quarterbacks. This was something that would take an organizational commitment to fix.
Williams did a great job of limiting sacks in Week 1, but they came back in full force in Week 2. No game was better than this.
Yes, the Dallas Cowboys' pass rush is terrible. They traded their top pass rusher for a run defender just a few weeks ago. Everyone does a great job protecting the quarterback against Dallas.
Still, this has to be viewed as a big step for a team that has never been able to stop an opposing team before.
Playmakers were open, and the play calling was on point. The offensive line held up, but when they did allow pressure, Williams was able to navigate it or get rid of the ball without hurting the rest of the drive.

The Bears head to Las Vegas next, and while Maxx Crosby is very good, there are questions with the rest of the pass rush. This is a nice test because Crobsy will force the unit to play better than last week, but there still are no excuses if Williams takes too many sacks against this team. Will this trend continue?
