The Chicago Bears ended their final preseason practice the only way they could: with two key injuries that will stress everyone out during the Labor Day weekend.
Wide receiver Rome Odunze left practice within the first hour after a lower-leg injury and did not return. Running back D'Andre Swift also left practice early with some kind of core injury.
These weren't the stories the Bears fan base needed to hear heading into the holiday weekend, and many hope they aren't serious. Updates on Swift and Odunze n'thopeshould make everyone happy.
What's the latest injury updates on Bears' Rome Odunze and D'Andre Swift?
After practice, The Athletic Bears reporter Dan Wiederer got some information on Odunze to hear how he's doing. It sounds like he is going to be okay.
"Update: Preliminary indications are that Bears WR Rome Odunze should be all good after leaving today’s practice. Bears breaking for the weekend tonight."
Odunze is the bigger concern since he had a foot injury last year that cost him the final month of the season. He finished the campaign with 44 receptions for 661 yards and six touchdowns.
As for Swift, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter provided a late-night update on how the running back is doing. Swift might also be okay.
"Bears RB D'Andre Swift, who left Thursday’s practice and was said to be in significant discomfort, was said to be experiencing “a cramp”, per sources."

Swift had the best season of his career with the Bears last year, rushing for 1,087 yards and nine touchdowns. He added another 299 receiving yards and one touchdown.
It seems that the Bears have avoided a disaster on the injury front. Still, it wouldn't be a massive surprise to hear, when the team is back, that one or both guys won't be on the field for the first practice.
The last month at training camp has been a nightmare with injuries on the team. Just at the running back and wide receiver positions alone, they have had Kyle Monangai, Luther Burden III, and Zavion Thomas get hurt. All three are back, but Monangai and Burden are not 100% guaranteed to play in Week 1 against the Carolina Panthers.

Things are trending in the right direction for Swift and Odunze for now, but if Bears fans have learned anything the last month, they really should wait until head coach Ben Johnson's update for confirmation. The hope is that Swift and Odunze will play against Carolina, but for now, it's the waiting game.
