The Chicago Bears' fanbase will likely never sing Matt Nagy's praises because of how his tenure with the franchise ended, but that hasn't stopped multiple teams from bringing him in to get a glimpse of his offensive mind.
The New York Giants decided to hire Nagy to be their offensive coordinator, apparently overlooking the fact that the Kansas City Chiefs did not want him back after a six-win season and no other teams were clamoring to bring him to town. The former Bears head coach will now be tasked with overseeing the development of young quarterback Jaxson Dart.
Given the lack of development they saw from Mitch Trubisky and the overly conservative passing game, Bears fans likely aren't going to offer Giants fans with a ton of positive words or comfort as they try to move forward.
Bears fans must cringe as Giants hire Matt Nagy to be offensive coordinator
It takes quite the offensive mind to make Patrick Mahomes look ordinary, but that's what Nagy did during his three seasons in Kansas City. While there were some problems on the offensive line and at wide receiver, there is a direct correlation between Mahomes' numbers declining and Nagy's arrival.
The fact that Kansas City was so eager to bring back Eric Bieniemy for a second go-around, even as Nagy's contract with the Chiefs expired, is likely a sign they were done with him. Chicago came to that conclusion at the end of his tenure as head coach.
Like Trubisky, Dart is an accurate quarterback who can use his legs to make plays. He needs proper guidance to get the most out of his abilities, and given Nagy's history over the last few years, he doesn't seem the most qualified man for the job.
Nagy wasn't the worst coach in the world; he left Chicago with a winning record and went 25-13 in games started by Trubisky. However, that elite defense may be the biggest reason for his success, and his offensive style was clearly outdated by the time the end of his Bears tenure approached.

Between hiring fired Tennessee Titans defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson to the same position and bringing in Nagy, Harbaugh might be disappointing a Giants fanbase that had visions of Browns head coach Todd Monken calling the offense and Anthony Weaver in charge of the defense.
