Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson had to be thrilled with the team's most dominant performance of the season as they blew out the Cleveland Browns 31-3 in Week 15 action.
The Bears dominated the Browns from the beginning, but the one singular moment from the game was Caleb Williams' spectacular 22-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver DJ Moore in the third quarter to put the game away. After the game, Johnson was asked about the play and certainly played up his quarterback with how he made that throw in the back of the end zone in double coverage.
"I would say 99% of the quarterbacks, you tell them don’t even waste your time looking back there and trying to make that throw. There’s usually bad things that happen, and yet he’s got the ability to make that throw, and DJ made a heck of a play there right on the back line as well. That was one of those highlight moments there."
Williams had quite the game, but the play was even better
During the game, Williams completed 17 of 28 passes for 242 yards and two touchdowns with zero interceptions. He also ran for 13 yards on three carries in the win.
While the performance did not dispel Williams' accuracy issues, it will undoubtedly help with the commentary on his ability to make every throw. The way Williams uses his legs to make throws is simply terrific to watch, and something Johnson or any other coach can't teach
The truth is that Williams just has the natural arm strength and athleticism to make him an elite quarterback. His accuracy problems will continue to hold him back from reaching his full potential.
Johnson has admitted that part of the problem with his accuracy is that he is throwing more at Williams, which is taking him time to process the plays and make the right reads. At least Williams is showing good progress.

The Bears have 10 wins on the season and are at least one win away from pretty much guaranteeing a playoff spot. Johnson and Williams' combination continues to be magical to watch in the Windy City.
