It finally happened: Caleb Williams officially misses a practice for the Chicago Bears.
The Bears released their first Week 3 injury report. This report includes estimates because they didn't practice Thursday, but they did practice Wednesday, so it reads more like that report. Here is the full list of players on the injury report:
Name, Position | Injury | Thurs. Status |

Tyson Bagent, QB | Concussion | DNP |
Grady Jarrett, DT | NIR (Rest) | DNP |
Kyle Monangai, RB | Knee | DNP |
Cairo Santos, K | Right Hip | DNP |
Tyrique Stevenson, CB | Hamstring | DNP |
Caleb Williams, QB | Hamstring | DNP |
Noah Sewell, LB | Achilles | Limited |
Shemar Turner, DT | Knee | Limited |
Caleb Williams officially makes his way on first Bears injury report
It's jarring, to say the least, that Williams is officially on the Bears' injury report. It's not a major surprise, as Ben Johnson has already announced that Williams won't practice all week for Chicago.
Williams' backup, Tyson Bagent, also isn't practicing because he is in concussion protocol. Since the game is on Monday and a player must be out at least five days before clearing concussion protocol, Bagent still has a shot at playing. If neither Williams nor Bagent can play, Case Keenum would be the new starter.
Running back Kyle Monangai being included as not practicing with a knee injury isn't a massive concern for the moment. Bears fans will have to wait and see on the second injury report if he still doesn't practice. That would determine whether he can play or not.
Another new injury concern is Santos dealing with a hip injury. This would be the second straight season that Santos is injured and facing the potential of missing time. Jake Moody filled in for him last year, who is a free agent at the moment, so could be an option for Chicago.
Stevenson not practicing adds to the growing problems with injuries in the secondary. If he can't play, rookie Malik Muhammad could be CB2, and Cam Lewis could fill in at nickel.
Sewell and Turner are both on the PUP list and are practicing this week. Their 21-day window has opened, meaning the Bears have 21 days to activate them to the 53-man roster.
Jarrett is no concern at all. This is been typical for him since last year to have a veteran's day off. Guard Joe Thuney should have his either Friday or Saturday.

There is still a long week to see how the rest of the reports go, but the Bears, for now, have the physical proof that Williams is not practicing, leaving the quarterback position officially in question for Week 3 against the Philadelphia Eagles.
