Thursday was a day off for the Chicago Bears, as it was an eventful day when the team made a massive trade for defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons. There was some interest in how the injury report would look, though,

The Bears practiced on Wednesday, with the big story being running back Kyle Monangai and cornerback Malik Muhammad not there. With the day off, Thursday had the first injury report for their Week 8 game against the Seattle Seahawks, but it was just an estimation.

There were just five players who showed up on the injury report with good progress being made. Here is a look at everyone that was on it.

Kyle Monangai & Malik Muhammad headline Bears' first Week 8 injury report

The Monangai news was not surprise, but still stings a bit for Bears fans, as they would like their key offensive weapon back on the field. He has missed the last three days with the thumb and toe injury, but the turf toe injury is the biggest problem at the moment.

If Monangai misses a fourth straight game, it will be D'Andre Swift and Roschon Johnson taking the majorities of the carries. Zavier Scott was signed from the practice squad to the 53-man roster, so could he get some looks, but will mostly be used on special teams.

The cornerback position got some good news with Muhammad practicing after missing Wednesday's workout. Tyrique Stevenson was the other cornerback that was not at practice on Wednesday, but he did not show up on the initial injury report.

Muhammad is expected to have a big role on defense with Jaxon Smith-Njigba on the opposite side for the Seattle Seahawks. It will be either Muhammad, Stevenson, or Jaylon Johnson handling that coverage, but for now, it appears Johnson is the favorite to have that job.

Looking at the other key linebacker injuries from Bears' Injury report

Linebacker was certainly a very busy position with injuries in the hopes of getting some depth back to the position. T.J. Edwards has missed the last two games with a hamstring injury. Jack Sanborn has missed time with his concussion.

D'Marco Jackson has come up big over the last two games for the Bears, replacing Edwards in the lineup. After getting an interception in the Bears' Week 7 win over the New England Patriots, he is now dealing with an ankle injury, but was still listed as limited.

The good news is that there is an extra day for the Bears to get healthy against the Seahawks. If they want to beat the defending Super Bowl champions, they need everyone available to play.
