Chicago Bears cornerback Jaylon Johnson is determined to make sure that if he can play in Week 1 against the Minnesota Vikings, he will make sure to do so.

While speaking with the media on Tuesday, Johnson made it known that he wants to be cleared to practice and get back on the field with his teammates.

“I’m doing everything I can to be ready.”

Johnson has been out for all of training camp as he has been dealing with a leg injury. He did not practice at all, nor has he played in any of the preseason games, as he focused on recovering from the injury.

Johnson looking to come back stronger than ever for the Bears in 2025

Chicago's defense has been reliant on Johnson being on the field, as he has been the face of the secondary over the last five years. He has made the Pro Bowl in back-to-back seasons with 49 pass deflections and seven interceptions in 70 career games. Johnson has proven to be a shutdown corner with just 59% of his career targets being completed.

The Bears have had their share of injury issues in training camp, with multiple players going down with injuries. They lost Terell Smith and Shaun Wade for the season, and Kyler Gordon missed part of camp with an injury.

It'll be important for Johnson to get to practice as soon as possible, as he has a lot of work to get done. The most important thing will be to get adjusted to Bears defensive coordinator Dennis Allen's system, as he hasn't been able to work through the scheme Allen runs.

How Johnson will look on the field will be another question, but once he is fully healthy, this Bears defense will be firing on all cylinders.
