The roster movement has officially begun with the Chicago Bears with six players off the list with one other being officially out for the season.

To no surprise, cornerback Terell Smith was placed on the injured reserve list, effectively ending his 2025 season. Smith suffered a torn patellar tendon in his left knee during the Buffalo Bills preseason game.

The Bears made sure to make some more moves with the Smith news as well as six players were cut from the team.

  • LB Swayze Bozeman
  • OL Chris Glaser
  • TE Thomas Gordon
  • DB Mark Perry
  • WR Samori Toure
  • DB Jeremiah Walker

Who were the biggest names on the list of players who got cut?

There were no major surprises with the roster moves made as none of the players cut were expected to make the roster. That doesn't mean there weren't guys who made an impact that could be candidates for the practice squad.

Bozeman sticks out as one of the biggest names on the list, as he had a nice preseason with six tackles to his stat sheet. He might make for a good practice squad candidate at inside linebacker.

Toure was already announced earlier, with ESPN's Adam Schefter reporting that news. He was one of the leading receivers on the team in the preseason, as he had five receptions for 72 yards in three games.

Perry and Walker were also expected as both guys were brought in to help out with depth issues on the team. The Bears have struggled with durability on the team with Jaylon Johnson, Kyler Gordon, and Zah Frazier all missing either half the time or all of training camp.
