Many Chicago Bears fans are still glowing from the 29-27 preseason win over the Kansas City Chiefs to close out the preseason, but one player might have dug himself a hole he can't climb out of to make the 53- man roster.
The Bears had their struggles through the first three quarters of the game in the secondary. Veteran cornerback Tre Flowers was one of those guys who got torched by the Chiefs' passing game.
Flowers had a bad penalty in the second quarter that led to a Chiefs field goal. He had one drive in the game where he allowed a 50-yard completion and later was called for a pass interference penalty.
In three preseason games, Flowers had six tackles for the Bears.
The Bears might be walking Flowers out the door after the Chiefs game
To be fair to Flowers, he was not the only Bears defender who struggled in that game. Nahshon Wright had a bad stretch of plays against Kansas City, which included being called for two penalties on the same play, resulting in a free 30 yards given away.
Flowers was having a decent training camp and preseason with some nice plays made here and there. He was given more playing time with the cornerbacks who were out, including Jaylon Johnson, Kyler Gordon, and Zah Frazier, to name the top ones.
The problem for Flowers is that the secondary is already deep and may not have space for him to make it. Despite Wright's rough game, he is still expected to make the final 53-man roster.

There's a chance the Bears could bring Flowers onto their practice squad, but it certainly feels like he is one foot out the door and won't be in the Windy City for long.
