Chicago Bears general manager Ryan Poles got right to work on the roster less than two days after the team won a thrilling 29-27 preseason game over the Kansas City Chiefs.
ESPN reporter Adam Schefter reported that the Bears have released wide receiver Samori Toure. He was starting the second season with the Bears after spending the entire last year on the practice squad. The Green Bay Packers also had him on their roster for two years after selecting him in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

Toure played in all three preseason games for the Chicago Bears, finishing with five catches for 72 yards on seven targets.
Toure is not a big surprise of a cut for the Bears
Chicago's wide receiver position was deep this preseason with a ton of talent. It was inevitable that multiple Bears pass catchers would lose their jobs.
Bears fans might be able to point to one play where Toure might have lost his job after that. During the 24-24 tie against the Miami Dolphins, Toure did not make the effort on a pass play that was picked off as he took criticism from the broadcast team on it.
It doesn't help that other receivers, such as Jahdae Walker, Tyler Scott, Maurice Alexander, and Joel Wilson, outperformed Toure at camp and in the preseason. That depth at wide receiver has made it an impossible decision for Poles to make.
There is a chance that Toure will once again make it on the Bears' practice squad, but there will be other options the team could look at first before going down that route. Toure won't be alone in cuts, as usually there's more than one player at a time who gets cuts.
