Bears' Madden ratings look like they were crafted by a Packers fan

These are a bit suspicious.

Every year, fans get the chance to pick apart the illustrious Madden video game when the initial player ratings are released. This year, Chicago Bears fans don't have the right to complain all that much. However, there are a few bones we have to pick.

If you looked at the full list of Bears Madden ratings for this year, you'd notice a couple of standout tidbits. And, if we didn't know better, we'd have thought these ratings were put together by a Green Bay Packers fan.

Take the most popular Bears player, first and foremost, in quarterback Caleb Williams. He wasn't other-worldly as a rookie last year, but to put him at a 75 feels a little low. What's especially funny about Williams' rating is that backup safety Jonathan Owens is ahead of him at 76.

Caleb Williams' Madden rating is hilariously low, but he's not the only one

Let's be a little more realistic when we're talking about a quarterback that had a TD-INT ratio of just over 3-to-1 in his first year, and behind one of the worst offensive lines in the NFL. Oh, and we haven't even touched on coaching or scheme at all.

If we were to be more fair, Williams should realistically fall in line between the likes of an 80 but no higher than 84. That's an honest assessment. But, putting a backup safety higher than Williams is hysterical.

Once again, it sounds like something a Packers fan would do.

What else would they do? How about putting stud cornerback Jaylon Johnson just short of a 90 and handing him a rating of only 89? It's almost as if a Packer fan said, "Hey, we know he's good, but let's stop him just short of feeling accomplished."

Compare it to a young man growing up that feels he should wind up hitting six feet tall and, just before he reaches that milestone, God looks down and says, "Nope. You're going to stop right there."

Maybe that's the worst illustration you've heard in a while. Maybe it checks out.

Either way, the Bears' ratings are questionable at best and Johnson's rating, in particular, is laughable.

Here's to hoping the 2025 Bears blow Madden's assessment out of the water this coming season.
