The Chicago Bears needed an overhaul on multiple levels. New head coach Ben Johnson will be the man providing that for the team.

Johnson's approach to the team this offseason has already been seen with how tough he has coached his quarterback, Caleb Williams. During one of the workouts, Johnson got into Williams' face and would later praise his quarterback for his response to the hard coaching.

CBS Sports writer Cody Benjamin took notice of this in his offseason workout takeaway article on each team. Benjamin sees how Johnson has a good, firm grip on the Bears entering his first season.

"Ben Johnson is tightening the ship. Few analysts have spared the Bears praise for their active offseason, in which Caleb Williams got a trio of fresh blockers, plus more playmaking help in rookie wideout Luther Burden III. But Johnson, the new man in charge, made bigger headlines for cracking down on the body language of Williams and No. 1 wideout DJ Moore. This guy's here to instill a winning presentation, even if the wins don't immediately follow."

Johnson continues to prove he was the right man for the job

The culture part is so pivotal to the Bears, as this is a team that hasn't made the postseason in four years. Johnson has been on a winning team over the last three years with the Detroit Lions and knows what it takes.

Another vital aspect of Johnson is his creativity with the offense. His ability to take players like Jared Goff and Amon-Ra St. Brown and turn them into top performers thanks to his coaching and play calls to set them up in the right spots.

Johnson will have a lot of freedom to let this offense flourish in Chicago. He's got plenty of weapons to work with, including Moore, Rome Odunze, Burden, Cole Kmet, Colston Loveland, and D'Andre Swift. This is enough to be dangerous with the variety of play calls that can be made.

Pro Football Focus data has already shown this offense in the past few years has been down and unpredictable. That shows the game planning wasn't there on offense as the team struggled.

Johnson appears to have the plan in place and is ready to execute it in 2025.
