There are multiple needs for the Chicago Bears on the roster entering the 2026 NFL Draft, with one position having some heated debates about it.
At center, Garrett Bradbury joins the Bears via trade after Pro Bowler Drew Dalman retired from the NFL. That left Chicago with an unclear future at the position, as Bradbury had only one more year on his deal.
Most mock drafts have the Bears looking to take a center on Day 2 or 3, and it might be the case as the team is set to visit with Miami Hurricanes center James Brockermeyer, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. Brockermeyer was a first-team All-American and third-team All-ACC selection last year after allowing just 10 pressures, two quarterback hits, and zero sacks in 440 pass blocking snaps.
Former Miami center James Brockermeyer recently visited the Titans and will visit the Bears later this week, per source.

Bears scheduled to visit center James Brockermeyer
Brockermeyer had a solid final season as he is one of the best pass-blocking centers in the NFL Draft. He is average as a run blocker, as Pro Football Focus gave him a 68.4 run blocking grade, ranking him 48th out of 307 centers in the nation.
The Bears would be smart to at least get some depth on the offensive line, specifically at center, as there's no telling how Bradbury will play. While he's been a solid starter in the NFL, Chicago is looking for a center who can play at the same level that Dalman played a season ago.
There are already some questions on the Bears' offensive line, with left tackle being a glaring issue with Ozzy Trapilo out with an injury and Braxton Jones most likely filling in. That makes the interior offensive line that much more important to ensure it holds up well.

Brockermeyer's presence would be great for the future of the center position and a good insurance policy in case it doesn't work out with Bradbury.
