It was quite the week with the Chicago Bears, with all kinds of big headlines and stories coming out of the team.
Obviously, the biggest story of the year, and possibly in the last two years, was the trade for defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons. While the Bears surrendered two first-round picks, they did acquire one of the best defensive players in the NFL right now.
Other big stories from Chicago will have major effects on the team as they enter their Week 8 Monday Night Football showdown against the Seattle Seahawks. Here is a look at some of those big stories.

Bears injury report: Kyle Monangai will miss his fourth straight game, Colston Loveland is good to go
The final Bears Week 8 injury report is out, and it is not good news once again for running back Kyle Monangai, who is set to miss his fourth straight game with a thumb and toe injury. This was trending in that direction, as Monangai has not practiced in four weeks.
A surprising addition to the injury report Friday was tight end Colston Loveland, who suffered a neck injury. The good news, though, was that Loveland was a full participant and will play against the Seahawks. That's important since Cole Kmet is out for the rest of the season with his knee injury.
Chicago did get some good news on defense, though, as linebacker T.J. Edwards is back from his hamstring injury and will play after missing the last two games. On the flip side, on defense, cornerback Malik Muhammad (toe) and linebacker D'Marco Jackson (ankle) are listed as questionable.
Jeffery Simmons' first comments after Bears' blockbuster trade
Simmons arrived at the Bears' facilities on Friday to make his first appearance with the team. That gave him a chance to speak with the media about joining the franchise.
While speaking with reporters, Simmons acknowledged that leaving Tennessee was tough because he had to leave his family and the team he had played for nearly a decade. Still, he's excited to get started with the Bears and contend for a Super Bowl title.
"This team believes in what they have here, and they want it right now," Simmons said via The Score's Chris Emma. "My game, my passion, my energy, my leadership, I can only help this team even more than what it's got. This is a great locker room from quarterback all the way down. So, my job is to come in here and be nothing more than but myself. I'm excited to be able to help this team compete for a championship."
"I'm so excited to hopefully have my name up there one day. They always say it's the people who come before you. Those chairs in the room, they don't belong to us. My job is to continue to uphold that tradition. ... This city, this organization have a lot of tradition, and I'm so excited to be a part of it. I'm ready to roll."

Ryan Poles drops the quote of the year after Jeffery Simmons trade
Bears general manager Ryan Poles was the first person in the organization to speak publicly about the Simmons trade. Poles had a great moment when he noted that they traded away three draft picks, but he wanted to make it clear that his mindset hasn't changed.
"I know it's kind of a joke that goes around, like, 'F them picks is like a big thing.' That's really not what we're about. I know it took a lot to get this done, but we absolutely believe that the draft and bringing in young talent is a way to sustain success around here. I'm challenging myself and our crew that for the picks we do have, we have to hit. We have to be great with our undrafted free agent process. And whatever tier of free agency we're working in, which will have constraints, we got to hit there too. We got a great track record. It continues to get better every year. So, I got a lot of faith that we'll be able to get that done and sustain success."

Bears lose Jamree Kromah to the Miami Dolphins
After trading for Simmons, the Bears had to make one of their toughest moves: releasing defensive end Jamree Kromah. This season, Kromah recorded two tackles and one tackle for loss.
The hope was that when the Bears released him, they could snatch him back to the practice squad. That didn't happen, though, as the Miami Dolphins claimed Kromah off waivers, and he is on their 53-man roster.

It's a tough blow for the Bears after Kromah had a great preseason with three sacks and earned his way onto the team. That was a small price to pay, though, for Chicago to acquire a four-time Pro Bowler in Simmons.
Bears add defensive back Josh Butler after Jeffery Simmons trade
Another move from the Simmons trade was signing defensive back Josh Butler to the practice squad. Butler spent the last two seasons with the Dallas Cowboys, finishing with 26 tackles, five pass deflections, and one sack in six games.

With Muhammad's injury concerns, Butler gives the Bears some insurance. Muhammad's injuries mean they need more depth in the secondary. That has been a problem throughout the last few months, with injuries plaguing that unit.
