The Chicago Bears initially focused on preparing for their Week 8 showdown against the Seattle Seahawks. Still, after the Baltimore Ravens lost 36-10 to the Buffalo Bills, an interesting scenario may unfold.
Baltimore had a rough Sunday, losing both quarterbacks, Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley, to injuries, which led undrafted rookie third-stringer Joe Fagnano to finish the game. Jackson suffered a thumb injury that will require surgery and will force him to the injured reserve. Huntley suffered a turf toe injury and could miss some time.
Now the Ravens have an interesting situation: they are on a short week and might have to start Fagnano against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday night. Bears fans might be interested to know that Baltimore may be having conversations this week about the quarterback situation.
Bears could be having a conversation with the Ravens in the next few days
The Bears happen to have a couple of pretty good quarterbacks behind Caleb Williams who could be good trade candidates for the Ravens. Tyson Bagent and Case Keenum have had some nice moments this season and could be primed for a spot in Baltimore if Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta wants them. The obvious connection is that Ravens offensive coordinator Declan Doyle was in the same position last year with the Bears, so Bagent or Keenum could step into the offense right away.
FanSided and Sports Illustrated NFL insider Jason La Canfora shared a new report that, as soon as the game ended, DeCosta went to work finding a quarterback. Bagent's name was brought up as a candidate.
"The Ravens top pursuit is Bears back-up quarterback Tyson Bagent, according to multiple high-ranking NFL personnel execs. They have reached out to Chicago, but are in a desperate position, DeCosta already got fleeced trading a second-round pick for a concussed and suspect offensive lineman. Multiple league sources told me through the summer that the Bears were rebuffing all overtures for Badgent (who makes $4M this year and $4M next year), who they believe can be a valuable back-up in Ben Johnson’s system.
'Chicago doesn’t have to trade him,' one NFL GM told me. 'They like him … Wonder how hard they squeeze DeCosta?'”
The #Ravens are in a desperate bind for Thursday at QB and have already reached out to try to trade for one. Who is their top target? https://t.co/1p4rJriCy0

This season, Bagent has completed 65.6% of his passes for 406 yards and three interceptions, adding 18 rushing yards on seven carries. Keenum completed 66% of his passes for 355 yards and two touchdowns to one interception, and added 10 rushing yards on five carries while throwing.
Ryan Poles can drive the price up on Tyson Bagent with the Ravens desperate for a QB
The one thing that Bears general manager Ryan Poles can really do with this situation is play hardball. All offseason, Bagent's name came up as a trade option, but Chicago loves him as the backup, so they wouldn't want to lose him and then have to opt back.
Poles will most likely initially tell DeCosta that it would take a second-round pick to make the deal happen. In reality, a third- or even a fourth-round pick would be enough to persuade the Bears to make the deal.
Remember, this was a Ravens team, that when they lost their top three centers, they traded with the Philadelphia Eagles for Cam Jurgens, overpaying in draft capital. Baltimore got the Eagles' two draft picks, including a 2028 second-round pick.

While getting some draft pick for Bagent in a trade would be great, Poles needs to play it smart and force the Ravens to give him a good deal. If the Bears play this right, it could help replace some of the offset draft capital lost in the Jeffery Simmons trade.
