There are a lot of exciting, young pieces in place already on the offensive side of the ball for the Chicago Bears. Quarterback Caleb Williams showed everyone how he's able to spread the ball around to the plethora of weapons at his disposal, but it's clear at this point that something is still missing.
Even after one of the most well-rounded offensive performances Bears fans have seen in recent years, it's clear that Chicago is missing the dynamic running back(s) Ben Johnson needs for his offense to operate at maximum efficiency.
At this point, it's become abundantly clear who the Bears' top target needs to be for the 2026 NFL Draft, and they don't have to look all that far away.
Jeremiyah Love is Bears' obvious top target for 2026 NFL Draft
The best running back in the entire country right now plays a quick hour-and-a-half away from Soldier Field at Notre Dame Stadium. Fighting Irish superstar Jeremiyah Love has long been thought to be one of the top prospects ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft, but everyone's suspicions have been confirmed with the way he's played this year.
Love had a ho-hum day at the office on Saturday against Arkansas, racking up nearly 130 yards from scrimmage along with a whopping four touchdowns (2 rushing, 2 receiving).
So far this season, Love has been exactly as-advertised with eight total touchdowns and at least 127 yards from scrimmage in three straight games. As nice as it would be to see D'Andre Swift turn things around under Johnson, or someone like Kyle Monangai emerge, the 2026 NFL Draft is going to be where the Bears shift their focus to the running back position.
Heck, they could even try to make history repeat itself by signing someone like pending free agent Tyler Allgeier in free agency and then drafting Love. We have seen what that running back duo of David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs has been able to do for the Lions, and a two-headed monster like that in the Midway would be the exact thing missing from this Chicago offense.
Having a dynamic back like Love would do a great deal to take pressure off Williams. He's been instant offense for the Fighting Irish.

At this point, there's absolutely no way to guarantee that the Bears would be able to get Love, but if they have a shot at him, the choice for Bears general manager Ryan Poles should be extremely obvious.
