The last thing the Chicago Bears have even considered in training camp is who the quarterback should be between Caleb Williams and Tyson Bagent. One fan's question, though, might be getting some to think.
Chicago Tribune Bears reporter Brad Biggs appeared on the Mully & Haugh Show on 670 The Score, where, after speaking about Williams was asked by a fan via text whether Bagent has looked better than Williams has through two weeks of training camp.
'There's been some days that he has," Biggs said. "There's been some practices that I think he has and Tyson would probably admit he's had some practices where it was over and he was like that wasn't very good. A couple of days maybe. If Bagent was the long-term guy though, you'd probably have some questions about the arm strength and it's just a totally different player, but I don't think that's a question the Bears are entertaining anytime soon."

Should the Bears even entertain the possibility of Bagent over Williams at QB?
This certainly feels like an insane topic to even bring up, given the clear answer to it, but let's discuss it for fun.
Bagent has a compelling story, transitioning from a Division II quarterback to actually starting games in the NFL in 2023. He didn't do badly in his four starts, going 2-2 as the starter despite throwing three touchdowns and six interceptions during that span.
With that being said, the skill set between Bagent and Williams is not close. Williams has it all, from the arm strength and athletic ability to make plays with his legs. Sure, there are things he needs to fix as he needs to be more consistent and get rid of the ball faster, but he has all the physical tools to be a franchise quarterback.
Even if the Bears have a horrible start to the regular season with Williams, they should not even remotely consider putting in Bagent at quarterback. They are ride or die with Williams and need to know if, even in the face of adversity, he can rise to the occasion?
No offense to Bagent, as he is a solid backup quarterback in the NFL, but that's all he is. He's not a starter in the future. He will help be the backup and fill in when needed.

As football fans, everyone knows the backup quarterback is always the favorite player on the team. For the Bears, no worries about the backup as Bagent looks solid, but Williams is the man.
