Over the last almost three weeks at Chicago Bears training camp, the reporters covering it have not been able to hold back their excitement for the potential that comes with rookie first-round pick tight end Colston Loveland.
That trend continued with Bears reporter Chris Emma appearing on 670 The Score to discuss the team's training camp. The crew was talking about Loveland, and Emma gave a flattering response about the young tight end's abilities.
"He doesn't look a tight end. He doesn't even look like a wide receiver. He's a mismatch out there. He's such a natural route-runner. You see his ability to separate from a defender."

Caleb Williams has something special in his new tight end
This has not been an uncommon theme in training camp. Loveland has been making great plays at the tight end throughout camp to the point where there has been a ton of talk about the Bears trading their other tight end, Cole Kmet, because of how good Loveland looks.
A move like that would make zero sense since Bears' new head coach Ben Johnson is all about using two tight end sets in his offense. Loveland only confirms that Johnson made the right move picking him over Tyler Warren, as he's got the perfect one-two punch at tight end.
Loveland demonstrated in college why he was among the best tight ends in the nation, earning a John Mackey Award finalist nomination in 2024. He finished with a Michigan school-record 56 receptions for 582 receiving yards and five touchdowns in 10 games.
