Just one day before facing off against the Green Bay Packers in Week 14, the Chicago Bears decided to make a move to the roster.
The Bears announced they have signed offensive lineman Jordan McFadden from the practice squad to be on the active roster. Chicago also waived linebacker Carl Jones Jr. and elevated linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin from the practice squad.
McFadden has appeared in two games for the Bears this season with just six snaps on special teams. Jones played in nine games, racking up 11 tackles. Reeves-Maybin will play his second straight game after appearing in 16 snaps on special teams.
Bears solve one problem with move
The release of Jones Jr. is a surprise, as he has helped out on special teams and defense, as he came in over the last two weeks to help with the short-handed linebacker position. Chicago will most likely try to bring him back on the practice squad if he clears waivers.
Reeves-Maybin is known for his work on special teams. In 2023, with the Detroit Lions, when Bears head coach Ben Johnson was the offensive coordinator, Reeves-Maybin was a Pro Bowler for special teams.
As for McFadden, he can come in and help fill in for rookie Luke Newman, who was placed on IR before their Week 13 win over the Philadelphia Eagles, as he suffered a foot injury. He can help with adding some much-needed depth to the offensive line that has seen its fair share of injuries, including Braxton Jones, Theo Benedet, and Darnell Wright.

This might not be the Earth-shattering move fans want to hear, but it is an underrated one that could come up big if more injuries occur. McFadden and Reeves-Maybin can make an impact on this team that's looking to make a postseason run.
