24 hours before their showdown with the Detroit Lions in Week 2, the Chicago Bears made some final moves to get the roster where it needs to be.

The Bears announced that defensive end Tanoh Kpassgnon was elevated from the practice squad to the active roster. Kpassagnon is replacing wide receiver Jahdae Walker on the roster after he was downgraded to being out for the game with his ankle injury.

Chicago also made two moves to the practice squad. Kicker Jake Moody, who was just picked up from the San Francisco 49ers, was officially signed to the practice squad. Defensive end Xavier Carlton was placed on the practice squad IR.

Why Bears fans should keep their eye on Kpassagnon against Detroit

One performance in the Bears' 27-24 loss to the Minnesota Vikings that wasn't talked about was Kpassagnon. He finished with two tackles, two quarterback hits, one tackle for loss, and one sack against Minnesota.

This is an essential performance for Kpassagnon as he is essentially replacing Austin Booker, who is on IR for the first four games of the regular season. The Bears needed a pass rusher to step up, and Kpassagnon has shown that at age 31, he can still play at a high level.

The other newsworthy move was that Moody officially signed to the practice squad. He will be in Chicago to push Cairo Santos to perform better after his missed field goal and poor decision on the last kickoff in the fourth quarter. The chances of Moody winning the kicker job from Santos seem low, but it does serve as motivation for Santos to perform better.

Chicago needs some of these moves to work out, as they have a pivotal divisional matchup that could set the tone for how the rest of the season goes.
