The rumor train during the NFL offseason is always at its highest, as no other major news stories emerge before training camp. One thought appears to be gaining momentum with the Chicago Bears.

Bleacher Report writer Moe Moton shared the biggest rumors for each of the divisions in the NFL entering training camp. One looming over the NFC North is the possibility that the Bears could be the primary tight end in their offense in 2025.

"When a team uses a top-10 pick on a tight end, it should be a no-brainer that he takes on a prominent role, but Colston Loveland's rookie outlook seems a bit blurry with sixth-year veteran Cole Kmet on the roster.

Kmet is a proven playmaker in the passing game, registering at least 50 catches in three of his five seasons.

In January, the Michigan product underwent shoulder surgery, so he has to work his way back into top shape. Fantasy football enthusiasts may be skeptical about taking Loveland in drafts with Kmet in the mix, though Bears fans can look forward to the rookie's potential breakout at some point in the upcoming season."

Loveland's realistic outlook in his rookie season with Chicago

Loveland was one of the best tight ends in the country last year with the Wolverines as he caught a tight end-school record 56 passes for 582 yards and five touchdowns. He was a finalist for the John Mackey Award for the nation's best tight end despite playing just 10 games.

After being surprisingly selected as the first tight end in the NFL Draft, Loveland has not been able to show off much as he still recovers from his shoulder injury. He has not practiced at all at offseason workouts and is hopeful to be back by the time training camp begins.

There is more potential upside with Loveland, but Kmet is the veteran on the team and has proven to be reliable. Kmet has not missed any time during his career since being drafted by Chicago in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

It's more likely that Kmet will get more playing time to start the season, as Loveland will have to ease into the offense after missing OTAs and minicamp. By the end of the season, both guys should be equally involved in the passing game.

Bears quarterback Caleb Williams is lucky to have two starting-caliber tight ends on the team that will make his life easier in 2025.
