Well, the Chicago Bears fan base is inching closer to figuring out who the official starting quarterback will be, but there's still some confusion about what is going on.

The Bears announced that quarterback Tyson Bagent has officially cleared concussion protocol and has no injury designation for their Week 3 game against the Philadelphia Eagles. The team has not officially said whether he will start.

Starter Caleb Williams has already been ruled out for three to four weeks with a grade 2 hamstring injury. The starting job is wide open between Keenum and Bagent.

FOX Sports insider Jay Glazer reported earlier that Keenum will start, with Bagent as the backup. ESPN Bears reporter Courtney Cronin later confirmed this.

Case Keenum looking like he will start for the Bears over Tyson Bagent

It certainly feels as though Keenum would probably make more sense, despite maybe not having the abilities that Bagent has. The Bears could run more athletic plays at quarterback with Bagent, while Keenum is a pure pocket passer.

What's odd, though, is that top insiders like Ian Rapoport and Adam Schefter haven't said anything. If Keenum were going to start, they would be the ones to make it official. Cronin being closer to the Bears does make it feel more likely that's going to be the case.

A lot can change in the next 24 hours, but the Bears most likely already have a plan in place. They are doing everything they can to gain a competitive advantage over the Eagles. Philly's game plan against Bagent versus Keenum would be very different.

Starting Keenum might be the safer choice since he's been part of the Bears' game plan since the beginning of the week. Chicago designed it to fit Keenum's skill set.

The Bears had a simple game plan against the Eagles anyway: run the ball with D'Andre Swift and Kyle Monangai. Swift and Monangai each ran for over 100 yards against the Eagles in their Black Friday win last year, helping the Bears gain 281 yards on the ground.

If the passing game is going to be used, it will be mostly short passes and screens. With the speed of Luther Burden III, Kalif Raymond, and Zavion Thomas, those three can do a lot with the ball in their hands and pick up YAC.

While the Bears haven't confirmed it, signs point to the Bears not starting Keenum, but fans will have to see whether this strategy works.
