The defense for the Chicago Bears is facing a ton of injuries for their Week 3 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys.

Chicago released their Week 3 inactive list with six players being included on the list:

  • Kyler Gordon, CB
  • Jaylon Jones, DB
  • T.J. Edwards, LB
  • Case Keenum, QB
  • D'Marco Jackson, LB
  • Ozzy Trapilo, OL

No major surprises, but it shows the defense is depleted

The most challenging part of this game for the Bears is that they will not have three starters on defense for the game. One of those starters not included on the list was cornerback Jaylon Johnson, who was placed on IR on Saturday with his groin injury.

Gordon and Edwards not playing in the game is a massive loss as well. Edwards is missing his second game of the season after playing in last week's 52-21 loss to the Detroit Lions. Gordon has yet to suit up for a regular season game with his injury.

It's another game where Trapilo is not active for the game despite the struggles of the offensive line for the Bears. He has not had a chance to play in a game this season.

One interesting note on defense for the Bears is that rookie defensive lineman Shemar Turner is active for the first time this season. Turner might have a chance to get some playing time, but might be slowly moved into the rotation, so don't expect a ton of reps for him.

Chicago's biggest concern is in the secondary with Gordon, Johnson, and Jones being out of the game. Depth will be a concern for them with new starters like Nahshon Wright and Nick McCloud filling in.

It'll be an interesting experience to see how the defense holds up despite taking a beating on the injury report and inactive list.
