The Chicago Bears have announced their Week 5 inactives against the Green Bay Packers, and, as expected, Caleb Williams will not be active.
Williams was listed as questionable for the Packers game with his hamstring injury. This would be the third game of the season that the Bears' franchise quarterback has missed.
Here is the full list of inactives for the Bears before their Week 5 Packers showdown:
- Caleb Williams, QB
- Jamree Kromah, DL
- Kyle Monangai, RB
- Ozzy Trapilo, OL
- Keyshaun Elliott, LB
- Jayden Loving, DL
Bears' inactives include Caleb Williams out for the game
It's no surprise that Williams won't play in the game. He practiced on Friday but was listed as questionable going into the matchup.
At quarterback, Tyson Bagent will start, with Case Keenum as the backup and Miller Moss as the third string. Keenum technically started last week, but Bagent still got the win.
As for the inactives, there are multiple offensive linemen and defensive linemen, once again. This has been the common trend over the first few weeks of the regular season, since the Bears are deep at those positions.
Trapilo is once again not active for the Bears. He is still recovering from his 2025 injury, but Chicago has been cautious about playing him. The hope is that he will be back within this month.
Loving and Kromah have frequently appeared on the Bears' inactive list. Elliott joins them on the inactive list, but he is close to returning after working through his injury.
Chicago won't have Kyle Monangai for the Packers game with a toe and thumb injury. The toe is bothering Monangai more, as he was seen wearing a boot.
At running back, D'Andre Swift will get most of the carries. Roschon Johnson will be the backup for the game. Johnson will serve as Monangai's power back, while Swift is more of a speed guy for the Bears.
Ultimately, there are no big surprises for the Bears on the inactive list, but the hope is that this will be the last time Williams appears on it. Chicago hopes he will be back for their Week 6 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons.

The Bears are now focused on beating the Green Bay Packers and staying in the running for the NFC North title. Chicago cannot afford another divisional loss after falling to the Minnesota Vikings in Week 2.
