The Chicago Bears are in the beginning process of interviewing coaches for the offensive coordinator opening after Declan Doyle left them high and dry for the Baltimore Ravens.
So far, the Bears have requested interviews with Arizona Cardinals pass game specialist Connor Senger and Cincinnati Bengals wide receivers coach Troy Walters for the job. A third contender has been reported to be in the conversation, and it's someone who is already in the building.
NFL insider Ian Rapoport shared a report on who from the Bears could get promoted to be the new offensive coordinator.
"In the building, if there is an option, Press Taylor would be considered to be an offensive coordinator candidate. He's done an excellent job at several stops. Certainly someone Ben Johnson would consider."
Press Taylor is in the running for the Bears' OC job
Taylor has been in the building for the past year as the Bears' passing game coordinator. He spent the previous three seasons as the offensive coordinator for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Over the last 13 years, Taylor has been climbing the coaching ranks, spending most of his career with the Philadelphia Eagles and helping them win a Super Bowl in 2017. He served as the Jaguars' play caller for part of his tenure as offensive coordinator.
Chicago's passing game saw significant improvement from 2024 to 2025, as Taylor was part of Caleb Williams' development in the offense. Taylor worked closely with Doyle and Johnson to turn the offense into one of the best in the NFL.
It seems like a natural transition to move from Doyle to Taylor, since he already knows the offense and knows Johnson will be calling the plays. Taylor can just focus on the same work Doyle did to set the offense up for success.

No one in Chicago knows how long this offensive coordinator search will be, but Taylor should be considered one of the top candidates for the job.
