Even when he isn't in a Chicago Bears uniform, wide receiver and return specialist Velus Jones Jr. continues to get under the skin of the fan base.

Jones caused quite an uproar when he posted a laughing emoji on social media right after the Bears lost to the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Divisional Round playoff game. Now a member of the Super Bowl participating Seattle Seahawks, Jones defended his tweet to Adam Rank, which did not make things any better.

"I mean people can take it how they want, you know what I'm saying? The thing is if it affects you, it affects you. It’s a country that you got freedom of speech, but the thing is I never said something if it makes sense. I'm just blessed to be in this position everyday. I got love for all my boys in Chicago. You know they are my brothers for life. This is bigger than a game. This is bigger than a team. We can't play this sport forever. So, those are real life long relationships with the guys and everything. Some of the fans are salty, but that has nothing to do with me.”

Velus Jones Jr.'s comments makes Bears fans want to release him a second time

Jones was not successful with the Bears when they selected him in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He played in two full seasons and one game in his third season with the Bears, racking up 165 rushing yards and one touchdown, 135 receiving yards and one touchdown, 1,042 kickoff return yards, and 35 punt return yards in 27 games.

After his time with the Bears ended in 2024, Jones bounced around to four NFL teams and has only been playing with the Seahawks since October. He was previously with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Carolina Panthers, and New Orleans Saints.

All this talk about the Bears certainly has fans in Chicago grateful he's not on the team anymore. That "salty" vibe from the fan base is because he posted at a poor time and clearly showed he still doesn't want nice things to happen for the Bears.

He can try to justify the post all he wants, but it's clear that he's the one still salty about how things went down in Chicago. Jones didn't do much for the team anyway, so good riddance and good luck in the Super Bowl.
