The Chicago Bears picked up their first win of the Ben Johnson era, defeating the Dallas Cowboys 31-14 on Sunday. For the first time this season, the Bears looked like the team everyone thought they could be. Caleb Williams and the offensive weapons were electric, the defense was stingy, and Ben Johnson called a great game offensively. The offensive mastermind also had a some productive trick plays in the mix, which is a staple in his offense.
While Chicago used a couple of those plays on Sunday, including a flea flicker that resulted in a 65-yard touchdown, Johnson revealed the team had even more he didn’t get to unload. After the game, the first-year head coach said the offense wasn’t “able to get them all off the sheet,” referring to trick plays.

Bears had even more trick plays planned against Cowboys
That's exciting news for fans, and it gives everyone some fun plays to look forward to once they eventually make their way off the call sheet. It’s clear these plays are something the offense really spends time on, because Williams talked about how much they practiced the flea flicker leading up the the game. The second-year quarterback admitted it took a few reps to get the timing and everything perfect, but he knew the offense would be on the same page when it was called.
While trick plays are fun, it’s important for offenses to generate production with traditional plays, and Chicago did that on Sunday. Williams completed 19-of-28 passes for 298 yards and four touchdowns, and the offense also rushed for 87 yards. The emerging quarterback connected with eight different pass catchers, with rookie Luther Burden III leading the way with 101 yards and a score on three touchdowns.

The Bears will hope to keep this production rolling into Week 4, where they will try to get more trick plays off the call sheet.
