Ben Johnson made a huge Bears bet that he officially can't take back

It's a done deal.

There was a moment during the Chicago Bears' Week 11 contest against the Minnesota Vikings where this fan base was, once again, shouting for Cairo Santos to be left off the plane home.

More on that later.

But, the Bears now have no choice. Head coach Ben Johnson made his feelings clear about Santos after the game, and Chicago will ride or die with Santos from here on out. Why?

The Washington Commanders have snagged Jake Moody off the Bears' practice squad to try and remedy their own kicker problems. Now, the Bears have no other option. Santos is the guy.

Bears fans who still preferred Jake Moody over Cairo Santos have no choice but to move forward

That missed kick during the Vikings game ended up being redeemed in the best way possible, in the end, as Santos wound up kicking the game-winner as time expired. Because of his leg, the Bears walked out of US Bank Stadium as road winners, having avenged their Week 1 prime time loss to open the season.

After Santos got injured earlier this season, though, the Bears brought Moody in. The former San Francisco 49ers castoff did nothing but make kicks, giving his Bears teammates and the fan base plenty to cheer about. He hit 8-of-9 field goals and 100 percent of his extra points during his short stint with the Bears, including four out of five in the comeback win over the Washington Commanders.

Because Santos' miss against the Vikings was his fourth miss on the season, there were definitely some fans who were thinking about Moody being elevated. Obviously, that is incredibly difficult to do after Santos hit a game-winning kick.

Still, it was a thought which many Bears fans had in the back of their minds as this team trends toward the playoffs.

Speaking of playoffs, don't ask Johnson about the postseason just yet. He isn't having it. Right now, he is concentrated on the next game. And that, folks, is a whole different story in and of itself.

As for this topic at hand, it's a done deal. Unless the Commanders move on from Moody in the coming weeks, it'll be Santos for better or for worse.
