There's been an overwhelming amount of concern about the Chicago Bears' cornerback position, especially after Jaylon Johnson and Kyler Gordon were coming off injuries that cost both of them more than half of the 2025 season.
Going into OTAs, Johnson had been absent as he was enjoying his wedding, while Gordon had been dealing with a soft-tissue injury. Bears head coach Ben Johnson confirmed to reporters that Jaylon Johnson was at OTAs and is working out.
"I appreciate him being here now getting to know his teammates," Johnson said via CHGO.
Ben Johnson delivered good news about Jaylon Johnson is back at OTAs
After what happened with the second OTA practice, the Bears are happy to have Jaylon Johnson working out with the team. Adding to Gordon's injury, new defensive back Cam Lewis was seen walking off the practice field with trainers.
Last season, injuries at cornerback and lack of availability were major problems for the Bears. Former Bears cornerback Zah Frazier did not play all season for personal reasons, and Terell Smith missed the whole year with an injury.
Jaylon Johnson seems to be 100% back, which is great news for the Bears after having Pro Bowl seasons in 2023 and 2024. Last year, the injury affected his play as Johnson was just not as effective as he had been in previous years.
It might have to be a season where the Bears lean on their captain to step up as the team tries to figure out the CB2 job between Tyrique Stevenson and rookie Malik Muhammad. If Gordon isn't ready to go for the beginning of the 2026 regular season, that will be another problem the Bears will have to deal with.

Regardless, it's going to be a big season for Johnson as the Bears will need him to be the main guy they have seen in recent years and help elevate an already talented roster to a Super Bowl.
