The big news this week was the hiring of Ben Johnson as the next head coach of the Chicago Bears. Most fans are excited about the move and it seems to prove that this organization is finally doing things differently. They fired their first coordinator in the middle of the season. They fired their first head coach in the middle of the season. Now, they went out and hired the biggest head coaching name available this hiring cycle.
It will be interesting to see what changes take form with Johnson now in charge. He is known to be very detailed and has shown the ability to build a high-powered offense. The question will be who on the current roster returns and who is likely to be out the door. One interesting player on the roster is D'Andre Swift. Swift was drafted by the Lions in 2020, and Johnson was hired the same year as the Lions' tight ends coach. Swift was with Detroit for three years before they traded him to the Eagles -- one season after Ben Johnson took over as the team's offensive coordinator. Now they are reunited.
D'Andre Swift learns how to cook with chef Jonathan Zaragoza
No matter what happens with Swift's future here in Chicago, maybe he has found his next calling after football. Swift recently met up with chef Jonathan Zaragoza on his "Let Them Cook" series. You may recall this is the same series backup QB Tyson Bagent attended last September.
This time Whistle Sports put Swift in the kitchen. Whistle is owned by DAZN - the global sports streaming service that offers live and on-demand sports coverage in over 200 countries. Their "Let Them Cook" series can be found here on YouTube. Swift learned how to cook a beef sandwich, chilaquiles and cheesesteak eggrolls. While learning to make each dish, Swift answers questions about his life, food habits, and football. For example, Swift realized in ninth grade (freshman year) that he had what it took to make football more than just a fun activity.
We also found out what Swift likes to eat before a game and how that has changed as he has gotten older. Check out the video for this and more, but I think it is safe to say that D'Andre Swift should keep the cooking to Chef Zaragoza and his mom. The talent he brings to the football field definitely doesn't show up in the kitchen. The question will be, does his talent mesh with Johnson seeing that the Lions traded Swift away after only one season in Johnson's system? Time will tell.
