The 2025 season was so great for the Chicago Bears that they ended up hosting two playoff games. Unfortunately, the team’s season ended with a second-round loss, but the year will be remembered as a magical one when Chicago turned things around.
The season has earned head coach Ben Johnson and quarterback Caleb Williams a ton of praise, but there’s another group that one franchise legend also believes deserves some praise. That group is the fans, and legendary linebacker Brian Urlacher recently gave them a shoutout.
Sitting down with FanSided for an exclusive interview, on behalf of HeartFlow, the franchise legend shared that he was in the building for the wild card game against the Green Bay Packers, and admitted that he had never seen Soldier Field like that. While appreciative of the fans during his era, Urlacher said, “It was crazy when I played, but I don’t feel like it was like that.”

While Chicago finally gave its fans something to cheer for, it’s nice that such a loyal fan base is getting recognized by a franchise legend. Bears fans truly showed out in 2025, just as much as the team did, and opposing teams recognized them as well. Everyone knows a wild, engaged fan base is a weapon for teams, so it’s great that Chicago has one to draw on.
Between the winter conditions in Chicago and the committed fan base, Soldier Field has notoriously been a really hard place to play at late in the season and in the playoffs. That’s why the Bears’ ongoing search for a new stadium is an interesting saga. While there are certainly benefits to moving to a new location and building a state-of-the-art facility, the franchise will also lose something special by not having an outdoor stadium in the heart of the city.

The hope, of course, is that Bears fans are willing to travel and bring the same energy to wherever the team will be calling home next. As long as the team gives fans a reason to get loud, that will likely be the case.
