It's been pretty noticeable to Chicago Bears fans for a while that, despite the wins, quarterback Caleb Williams' accuracy continues to decline.
That trend continued in the Bears' 24-15 win over the Philadelphia Eagles as Williams arguably had his worst game of the season. He completed just 17 of his 36 passes (under 48%) for 154 yards and one touchdown to one interception.
Bears head coach Ben Johnson stated (and had to clarify) that they acknowledge the passing game isn't where it needs to be, but are still happy with Williams' progress. The second-year quarterback backed his coach in knowing that he had to improve himself.
"Obviously, I miss a pass, and it looks a certain way to everybody. And everybody doesn't know all the details. So you go into that, and you look at the stats, and you look at all these percentages, and whoopee doo, right?
"From there, we come back here, and we actually look at the film. Was I in the right spot? Was my drop right? You always look at yourself first and then look at the other guys and were they at the right spot? Were they at the right spot at the right time? You try, and tie those things together.
"That's the fun part about football. That's the fun part about playing this position. It's the fun part about a long season, you have these ups and downs. You'll also have these moments where you may not be hitting on all cylinders. And then you have these moments where it feels like you can't miss. We're trying to get to the point where we feel like we can't miss."
There's room to grow for Williams in Bears' offense
This season, Williams is completing 58.1% of his passes for 2,722 yards and 17 touchdowns to five interceptions. He's also added 306 rushing yards and three touchdowns on the ground.
Bears fans see the potential that Williams has, as he can make all the plays when he is on the run. It has drawn praise from multiple media members, including Howie Long, calling him the next John Elway.
The accuracy has to improve as there have been too many off-target throws. Williams' flaws have been covered by the great rushing attack, which currently leads the NFL with 153.8 yards per game.

For now, it's okay as the Bears are still winning games, but this will eventually bite Chicago in the butt if Williams can't improve on his accuracy.
