Everyone assumed going into Chicago Bears training camp that, for now, it would be wide receiver DJ Moore who would be quarterback Caleb Williams' primary target on offense. That has not been the case of late.
This week, the reports coming out of training camp have been that Rome Odunze is making all the catches. ESPN's Courtney Cronin posted on X about Odunze's big plays produced during the team's two-minute drive drill.
"Rome Odunze with two 3rd down grabs, including a third-and-long caught in bounds to set the team up to spike it with 1 second left to set up a FG) both days to move the offense down the field."
Aside from the pre-snap errors during Wednesday's practice, I think the last two days have been a strong showing from Caleb Williams. After practice ended on Thursday, Bears reporter Herb Howard went as far as to say Odunze is showing the potential for a big season.

Odunze and Williams are showing the NFL the future top QB-WR duo resides in Chicago
The moment the Bears selected Williams first overall and Odunze ninth overall, the message was sent on what the future would be. Williams and Odunze were going to be attached at the hip for at least the next four to five years and develop chemistry together.
2024 was not smooth for either guy as Williams took 68 sacks and had 10 fumbles. Odunze only caught 53.5% of his targets and had just three touchdowns.
Both guys knew, going into the offseason with new head coach Ben Johnson, that they had to step up their game and be the cornerstone pieces the franchise was expecting them to be. So far in training camp, they have proven that and more with their connection.
