Well, it didn't take long for Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams to make quite the statement for his team against the Minnesota Vikings on Monday night.

Williams led the Bears' offense on a near-perfect first opening drive of the game that took 10 plays to gain 61 yards and ended with a score. Chicago's franchise quarterbacks contributed 60 of the 61 yards on the drive.

It started with Williams handling the Vikings' pass rush well, resulting in two completions to running back D'Andre Swift for 11 yards. Williams was able to get the team down the field before he made the defining play of the drive.

On third and five at the Vikings' 30-yard line, Williams scrambled out of the pocket and hit Rome Odunze with a bullet pass to the sidelines for 17 yards. Williams would cap the drive with a nine-yard scramble for a touchdown to give the Bears the early 7-0 lead.

Williams finished the drive, completing six of six passes for 51 yards, with the nine-yard touchdown run to end the drive.

As good of an opening drive as the Bears could have asked for

Williams was everything that Bears fans have been hoping he would be. He was quick and decisive with his decisions. When he was scrambling, he made great decisions to either throw the ball to the open man or run it himself.

Last year, that was a common problem that would result in sacks and turnovers. Williams seems to have addressed those concerns for the time being.

There's plenty of game that needs to be played, but Bears fans can get excited about the progression of Williams. He's making great throws and runs that are resulting in points. Can't ask for more than that.
