The Chicago Bears must see improvement from their franchise quarterback, Caleb Williams, in his second season in the NFL. Williams is poised to make his mark on the league.

Bleacher Report writer Brent Sobleski ranked all the second-year quarterbacks and which ones will improve the most. Sobleski had Williams be second on the list.

"The Bears did everything in their power to improve Williams' situation. First, they hired the top offensive mind, Ben Johnson, among the head coaching candidates. Second, general manager Ryan Poles solidified Chicago's offensive interior with the acquisitions of left guard Joe Thuney, center Drew Dalman and right guard Jonah Jackson. Finally, the team added more offensive firepower with the first- and second-round additions of tight end Colston Loveland and wide receiver Luther Burden III.

Everything now falls on Williams to be better. He needs to process quicker. He can't hold onto the ball as long, even with his unique ability to extend plays. The goal is to become a more efficient football player."

Williams is set up for a strong second year in Chicago

Last year, Williams passed for over 3,500 yards with 20 touchdowns to six interceptions as well as a 62.5% completion percentage. The struggles of last year came with Williams fumbling 10 times and taking 68 sacks in 2024.

This year's team should be set up better for Williams without the constant changes with the coaches and the offensive line struggles. Chicago added three new offensive linemen via trade and free agency as well as three offensive players in the NFL Draft in the first two rounds.

The biggest contribution to the Bears' new look is Ben Johnson at head coach. Johnson is already hard at work during training camp getting the offense rolling and coaching Williams hard to release the ball quicker and make better decisions.

There are no more excuses for Williams to struggle as he is set up for success. Anything less than what he did in 2024 would result in some serious conversations to be had within the franchise after this season.
