The defining moment in the Chicago Bears' overtime loss to the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Divisional Round remains the topic of discussion days after it happened.
Bears quarterback Caleb Williams was looking for DJ Moore in overtime on their only drive of the period before throwing his third interception of the game, which led to a game-winning field goal by the Rams. Williams has chalked it up to a miscommunication with Moore on the play.
Days after the game, Williams was asked whether he and Moore had talked about the play yet. Williams said that they have not, but he is looking to talk to him about it eventually to make sure they are on the same page next time.
"Small things like that that show up in those moments that you may not have talked about, being on the same page, maybe you talked about it in Week 1 or Week 6, and it shows up in [Week 20]," Williams said via ESPN's Courtney Cronin. "You know, it’s something to learn from for myself, a learning experience, it’s something for us to learn from as an offense and as a team. We’ll go do that at some time."
Caleb Williams-DJ Moore's interception will haunt Bears fans
There is so much to be proud of with the Bears, who went 11-6, won the NFC North, and advanced to the playoffs. That Williams interception is going to hurt Chicago fans for a very long time.
What is going to hurt the most is that it's not a good look for Moore on the play. It appeared he gave up on the route and was not looking for the football, as he was not expecting it. The number one rule for a wide receiver is to always expect the ball to come your way.
This is a team that spent the first season under Ben Johnson as their head coach and still has a lot to learn under his system. These are mistakes that won't happen as often during the second year of the Johnson era. That goes for Williams and his receivers, too, as they have some chemistry issues to fix going into 2026.

Next season is going to be different as the Bears are going to be a very dangerous team with time and experience on their side. Once Williams gets everything worked out with his teammates, this team will compete for a Super Bowl title.
