The Chicago Bears have been exciting this season, and unless they stumble late, they are going to make the playoffs.
However, everyone, including Caleb Williams, would tell you that the quarterback play has not been quite what the team expects from a number one overall pick.
Still, while Williams would be the first to say he can be better, he is also not shy about saying that things will get better. When asked about his time with head coach Ben Johnson so far, Williams was blunt: he thinks he is still a year away from really unlocking what this offense can do.
"Our open communication. I think it's just the bond we are building. The details this offense takes, it is going to take a little more than a year to get on his level."
Caleb Williams has not reached a ceiling with the Chicago Bears yet
Williams is right, too. It is going to take a year or so to understand everything that this offense asks. The same thing can be shown with Jared Goff. Goff had 19 touchdowns during his first year with the Lions. The number went to 29 in his second year, then 30, and lastly 39 last season. By his last year with Johnson, he was better than any year he had with Sean McVay.
The same idea should be applied to Williams. Goff was not nearly as dangerous in his first year, and he came in with a Super Bowl appearance under his belt. Williams is just a rookie, so it would be crazy not think that he can be much better in this offense next season.
The biggest takeaway may be to get on his level, though. This offseason, there were articles written stating that Caleb Williams did not think Chicago had the infrastructure to support him, and that he did not put effort into meeting with Shane Waldron on issues they disagreed on.
In that sense, Williams did not think the Bears were on his level. Now, he does not believe that he is on the same level as his head coach. This is a good spot for the quarterback to be in, as it is humbling and brings out the best in him as he works hard to reach that level.

Williams is not yet a complete picture, so Bears fans should stay calm and expect big things next season as he really starts to understand the offense.
