The NFL Combine is around the corner, as hundreds of prospects will be working out in Indianapolis to make a large impression on all 32 NFL teams, including the Chicago Bears.

The Bears will be monitoring multiple positions very closely to find talent, including edge rusher, cornerback, safety, and defensive tackle. Chicago might be in the running for an offensive lineman, as the Bears have to deal with Ozzy Trapilo's ruptured patellar tendon, which he suffered in the NFC Wild Card win over the Green Bay Packers.

With Bears general manager Ryan Poles already announcing that Trapilo is going to be a big chunk of the 2026 season, Chicago might be in the market for a tackle in the NFL Draft. Bears CHSN analyst Clay Harbor named three names to watch out for at the Combine:

  • Kadyn Proctor, OT, Alabama
  • Monroe Freeling, OT, Georgia
  • Caleb Tiernan, OT, Northwestern.

Harbor first discussed Proctor, who is projected to be selected before the Bears' 25th overall pick in the draft. Proctor's game was praised with some small things to work on.

"This guy has a great kickslide. He's a little bit heavy-footed. Really good in the run game. He needs to drop a little weight, but he can play left tackle."

The next player Harbor talked about was Freeling. While he has great athletic potential, Harbor was a bit concerned about his only 12 career starts at Georgia.

"When you turn on the film, this guy's got long arms. He can tie his shoes standing up. 84-inch wingspan, 35-inch arms. This guy's got a good punch, he's good in pass pro, extremely athletic. He was a basketball star in high school. You can see it in his agility in his pass pro, and he's a guy you can do a lot with."

Closing out Harbor's list is Tiernan, who could land with the Bears sometime on Day 2. Harbor went as far as to compare Tiernan to an offensive lineman already in Chicago.

"He's a guy that reminds me a lot of Ozzy Trapilo. He's not the most athletic, he's not the biggest or the strongest, but he does everything well, and he's smart. He's physical, he's nasty. He's a guy that will slip because he's only got 32-inch arms."

The Bears must find someone who can jump in and help out at left tackle and maybe even be a full-time replacement for Chicago.
